Plans advance to build £200m Gateshead Quay plan
Plans to build a £200m regional arena and conference and exhibition centre on the Gateshead riverfront have advanced with appointment of the design team. The overall masterplan of the site including hotels, bars and restaurants and car parking for the scheme.
The move means plans for the 10-acre site at Gateshead Quays are now schedule to be submitted by the end of next year. The plan includes
- designs of the new 12,500 seat arena and international conference and exhibition centre
- designs of the overall masterplan of the site including hotels, bars and restaurants and car parking for the scheme
- designs for the landscape, which will sit between Sage Gateshead and the Baltic arts centre, directly opposite the Gateshead Millennium Bridge
