Why Choose PPE Recycling?

As the sustainable supplier of choice we have a responsibility, like you, to help reduce our impact on the environment and find ways to minimise waste going to landfill.

Every year half a million tonnes of textile microplastics enter the world’s oceans. The construction industry is the largest contributor to waste in the UK, making up over a third of total waste.

Reduce waste on site, bolster your green credentials and avoid waste going to landfill

Support an environmentally friendly, responsible and sustainable initiative

Promote a circular economy with materials going back into UK manufacturing

Safe destruction of your branded items and project logos for your peace of mind

Full audit trail of your recycled PPE for CSR and environmental reporting

Help build awareness to make better, more sustainable choices on waste management

Our PPE Recycling Solution

We offer a simple solution that suits all sites great or small. We can recycle all your textile PPE (such as hi vis clothing, workwear, face masks and gloves) as well as all plastic, polymer and metal PPE (such as helmets, safety specs, safety boots and ear defenders).

No contract needed – simply contact us when you need PPE recycling

How to Recycle PPE in the UK

1. PPE sacks & bins delivered to the site

When you request PPE recycling we will deliver PPE sacks & bins to your site. Simply fill the PPE sacks with your used PPE and let us know when you require a collection. There is no contract, so you can use our service as you need it.

Request your PPE recycling sacks & bin by contacting recycling@bryson.co.uk or calling us on 020 8660 9119. We offer 2 bin sizes: 80L & 240L.
Bin Size Bin Cost

80L
(comes with 4 PPE sacks)

£29.00 per bin
240L
(comes with 6 PPE sacks)
£59.00 per bin

2. Collection of your PPE

Contact us when you require your PPE sacks to be collected at recycling@bryson.co.uk or 020 8660 9119. We will raise an order for your sack collections, charged at the following rates.

Number of PPE Sacks Collection Cost
1 - 5 PPE sacks £44.00 per sack
6+ PPE sacks £30.00 per sack

Once your sack collection order has been raised, a member of our team will be in touch to confirm your sack collection date. Our PPE sack collections take place as per the SLA outlined in the following table.

Next Day Collection 2 Days Collection Lead Time 10 Days Collection Lead Time
Sites within the M25 Sites in Manchester or within M postcode Areas outside of these zones

3. Secure shredding & recycling of your PPE

Your collected PPE is processed via a secure recycling and shredding facility. Everything recycled is unrecognisable for brand protection.

On average 80% of your PPE is re-used or recycled into textiles and other products like insulation, and only 20% is used to create polyester fabrics or turned into energy. The best part is NOTHING goes to landfill!

4. Tracking & certification

All your PPE is tracked from collection to destruction, so you have a full audit trail. All collections are done by approved and licensed waste collection providers. You will also receive a Certificate of Destruction and standard recycling and environmental reporting.

5. Your recycled PPE is reintroduced to the UK supply chain

After being securely destroyed, your PPE re-enters the UK supply chain in the form of other products or composite materials for the manufacturing industry. This way up to 80% of your used PPE becomes a part of circular economy, where you not only save money and support the supply chains but you can effectively track your wider sustainability goals.

What is PPE Recycling?

Green isn’t just a colour here at Bryson, but an awareness of the environment. While we're environmental initiative driven, every site in the UK can make a difference by recycling their used PPE.

We have partnered with a leading specialist in the destruction and recycling of all PPE used on construction sites to provide a circular economy for all discarded Personal Protective Equipment, where 80% is re-used or recycled into textiles and other products, like insulation, and only 20% is used to create polyester fabrics or turned into energy. The best part is NOTHING goes to landfill!

The Textile Problem

100 billion items of clothing are made every year

3 out of 5 t-shirts made today will enter landfill within 12 months

Half a million tonnes of textile microplastics enters oceans worldwide every year

A lorryload of textile waste is delivered to landfill every second

We use the only UK based textile recycling company that mechanically strips and individualise textile fibres. PPE once stripped to fibres is recycled responsibly and re-used in textile production or other non-textile manufacturing as top priority. Our system ensures you can recycle all textile PPE, such as hi-vis clothing, workwear, face masks and gloves.

Not stopping at textiles, the Bryson PPE recycling scheme will re-use and recycle all plastics, polymers and metals as found in helmets, safety specs, safety boots and ear defenders. These items can either be stripped down for re-use as insulation, geotextiles, wall partitions and sound board & energy. Absolutely nothing goes to waste.

Only 20% of all PPE can’t be recycled to form other products, in this case the PPE is melted to produce polyester fabric or ground into pellets that can be used for energy. Absolutely nothing goes to waste.

Three Tiers of PPE Recycling

Tier 1 - Cottons, Wools, Tensels, Mono-Blend Fabrics

Primary and preferred route to repurpose the material for future manufacturing of other garments.

Tier 2 - Polys, Nylons, Complex Blends

Secondary route is to recycle the materials for a range of usable products. This includes insulation, geotextiles, wall partitions and sound boarding.

Tier 3

Last resort if the other two routes are not possible the materials is made into chips and melted to create polyester fabrics or used for energy.

The average PPE recycling breakdown: 20% goes into Tier 1, 60% goes into Tier 2, and 20% into Tier 3. This means that 80% of PPE is recycled and formed into other products!
