Plans have been approved for a new £50m retail, leisure and office scheme for Waverley in Rotherham. The scheme, which was unanimously approved by Rotherham Council, is set to comprise over 190,000 sq. ft. of mixed-use space and will create 700 new jobs.

Organic waste like bananas and potatoes could soon be used as building materials. Consultant Arup believes millions of tonnes of food waste could be turned into lower-CO2 products such as bricks, insulation and partition boards. Current organic materials under development include mushroom bricks grown in five days and waste potatoes used as insulation and acoustic absorbers.
