Bosses of Serpentine Green, in Hargate Way, have unveiled plans for the modernisation of the southern section of the 19-year-old centre in a move that could provide 257 jobs. The development will involve the creation of 11,359 square metres of leisure attractions, an extra 1,848 square metres of restaurants and cafes plus an array of modern retail units and the creation of a town square for outdoor events.

Sir Robert McAlpine has been chosen as the main contractor for the £460m regeneration of Woking’s town centre, a mixed-use project set to start in June. The project that will see around 11,000 sq m of retail space created, alongside 392 residential apartments, a new medical centre and a 190-bed hotel with spa and gym.
